Education

University of Bern – UniBe – (2016-2020)

PhD (insigni cum laude) – ‘On the formation and rheology of polymineralic ultramylonites’

Supervisors – Prof. Marco Herwegh, Prof. Alfons Berger and Dr. Thomas Poulet

The PhD was funded by a Swiss National Science Foundation project titled ‘The role of sheet-silicate-rich rocks during mountain building processes’ (SNSF Grant No. 162340; principle investigator Prof. M. Herwegh).

The University of Edinburgh (2011-2016)

MEarthSci with honours in Geology (1st class)

During the course of this undergraduate masters programme I gained ~100 field days across a range of terrains (Scottish Highlands – thrust tectonics and multiphase folding; Spain – basin development; Cyprus – regional tectonics and ophiolite formation; Iceland – volcanic successions and geomorphology in a hot spot setting). Of these field days, 42 continuous days where acquired during independent mapping in the Central Alps.
